How to Edit the Divi Header and Footer
By George Nicolaou
Your header helps visitors find their way around the site; your footer supplies useful secondary information. Before editing either, identify whether your site uses the default theme controls or a Theme Builder template.
Find the template that controls the page
Open Divi’s Theme Builder and inspect the assignments. A global header or footer can affect many pages, while a template assigned to a particular post type or page may override it. Editing the wrong template can make the change appear to have no effect.
Make navigation useful
Keep the main menu focused on the tasks visitors need to complete. Use clear labels and verify the destination of every link. In the footer, include genuine contact routes and policy pages relevant to your site, rather than a long collection of duplicated menu items.
Test the shared change
- Preview the header and footer on a page, a blog post and any shop template.
- Check the mobile menu and the keyboard focus order.
- Confirm that logos, buttons and contact links lead to the intended destinations.
- Clear the relevant cache if the published page still shows the old version.
