Import a WordPress Blueprint with All-in-One WP Migration
By George Nicolaou
A blueprint is a reusable starter website containing the structure and configuration you want for future projects. Importing it can save setup time, but it is a site migration rather than a harmless design import.
Prepare the starter site
Remove client information, sample enquiries, private files and credentials. Keep only plugins, layouts and settings you actually need. Record the software versions and any licences that will need to be activated separately on the destination.
Import into the right destination
- Use an empty development site or a staging copy, not a live client site with new orders or enquiries.
- Back up the destination and confirm that you can restore it.
- Export the starter site and follow the migration plugin’s current import workflow.
- Check URLs, administrator accounts, email delivery and third-party integrations after import.
Make the blueprint project-specific
Replace placeholder content and contact details. Update privacy information to describe the new site’s actual processing. Check menus, forms and mobile layouts before launch. A blueprint should remove repetitive setup work without copying assumptions from the previous client.
The video shows my earlier workflow. Upload limits and supported import options can depend on the plugin version and host, so verify them before starting a large transfer.
