Use a First-Name-Only Divi Email Opt-in Form
By George Nicolaou
A shorter sign-up form can reduce unnecessary questions. If you need only an email address and first name, do not collect a surname just because the default layout includes it.
Check the provider field mapping
Review the email opt-in module’s field settings and the list or audience it connects to. Confirm which provider field receives the first name and whether the provider requires any other value. Hiding a visible field does not always change the underlying requirement.
Explain the subscription
Say what readers will receive and provide relevant privacy information. Keep marketing sign-up distinct from sending a contact enquiry, and make unsubscribing straightforward.
Test with a new address
Submit the published form, check the confirmation behaviour and inspect the resulting subscriber record. Send a test message to verify that a personalised greeting uses the intended field and has a sensible fallback when the name is absent.
The video shows an earlier Divi interface. Follow the same field-mapping checks with your current module and mailing service.
